Los Angeles County reports more than 43,000 COVID-19 infections in one day, a new record – KABC-TV

LOS ANGELES (KABC)– Los Angeles County has once again set a record for coronavirus cases in a single day, reporting more than 43,000 brand-new infections on Friday.The new figure broke an old record set simply the day prior to of more than 37,000 new COVID-19 cases.The county also reported 28 additional deaths from the virus.LA County continues to face an increased stress on the local health care system driven by a scarcity of medical facility workers as many of them contract the infection and have to stay away from the workplace.The continued risk positioned by the infection to young people was shown in Orange County, which is now reporting its third death in a kid under 5 years old from COVID-19.”COVID does impact the children and unfortunately this kid was too young to get immunized,” stated Dr. Regina Chinsio-Kwong with the Orange County Health Care Agency.COVID-related hospitalizations of children under 5 are increasing across the nation – now striking their greatest level ever.Experts state it underscores the need for eligible people – older kids and grownups – to get their shots.
