The team tested the 18 participants prior to their consumption of cocoa flavanols and in 2 separate trials, one in which the topics got flavanol-rich cocoa and another during which they took in processed cocoa with really low levels of flavanols. ” The levels of maximal oxygenation were more than 3 times higher in the low-flavanol cocoa versus the high-flavanol cocoa, and the oxygenation action had to do with one minute much faster,” Rendeiro said.
