The outbreak is thought to have begun at some point this summer, with all recognized cases having actually been validated between August 6, 2020 and October 3, 2020. At this point, there appears to be no single common source of the outbreak, though all those talked to reported recently consuming deli meats, both packaged and sliced up fresh from a regional deli.
Listeria is an irregular cause of food poisoning, accounting for about 1,600 approximated cases in the U.S. each year. A foodborne outbreak of Listeria connected to deli meats has hospitalized a minimum of 10 individuals in three states and eliminated one, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
