A series of brand-new studies have exposed signs of strong and long lasting immunity in people who developed a mild coronavirus infection, according to a report on Sunday.

While researchers have yet to anticipate the length of time the immune reactions will last, scientists who have been keeping track of immune actions to the infection for months now, believe the recent findings are encouraging indications.

The research studies, which have yet to be peer-reviewed, exposed that antibodies and immune cells efficient in recognizing the virus were obviously present months after infections concluded. The findings could help to get rid of the previous issues over whether the infection could trick the immune system into having a bad memory of prior infections.

” This is precisely what you would expect,” Marion Pepper, an immunologist at the University of Washington who authored among the new studies told the New York Times. “All the pieces exist to have an absolutely protective immune action.”

Having those defense reaction present means the body has a good opportunity of warding off the coronavirus if reinfected.
” This is very promising,” stated Smita Iyer, an immunologist at the University of California. ” This calls for some optimism about herd immunity, and possibly a vaccine.”

Pepper– who authored among the new research studies– said the next step will be confirming and getting proof on whether people are genuinely able to fend off the coronavirus after being exposed a 2nd time, the paper reported.
